Pacers Club Spring Update
Pacers Club Spring Session information- we have made some changes! The spring session begins on Monday, March 9, and the last meeting will be on Monday, May 11. This spring, we are limiting club membership to 30 students. Therefore, students who participated in the fall and had good club attendance (0-2 absences) will receive invitations to join for the spring. These invitations will be sent home on Wednesday, February 25. Those students must return their forms by Monday, March 2 to guarantee membership. After that, if space remains, we will send home a permission slip to remaining former participants and to interested students in grades 3-5. Membership will be granted in the order in which permission slips are received. Another change is that we will only be meeting on Monday afternoons, from 3:10-4:15. Students will need to be picked up at the front doors no later than 4:15. Please contact Maria Poranski at [email protected] or 648-3360 ext. 50535 if you have any questions.
Fifth Grades Interactive Periodic Table
The fifth graders at PMES completed a project on the Periodic Table of Elements. Each student was assigned an element to research and create a visual slide to display as part of the interactive periodic table of elements. The students also took their research and wrote a mini report which they were videotaped presenting. The final step of the project was to create Auras using the Augmented Reality App Aurasma. Now, when someone scans a students' visual slide a video will pop up of the student sharing his or her mini report. On Tuesday, February 10th the fifth graders shared their projects with PMES families during the monthly PTA meeting.

SCA Presents for Pets Drive

Top turkeys named at Pembroke Meadows
Pembroke Meadows Elementary School students and staff brought in more than 47 bushel baskets of canned food to help support the Bayside Lions Club help those in need. When canned goods were brought in, students could vote for which teacher or staff member they wanted to name as the Turkey of the Year. The results are in and the winners are: Robin Latchford and Kaitlin Jensen.
Annual Costume Dance
On the evening of October 24th, Pembroke Meadows' families came to school to dance the night away at our annual costume dance. Students enjoyed spending time with family, friends and teachers as they danced and socialized. Students were spotted in all sorts of creative costumes and many staff members even dressed in costume. Students ended the night by Trick-or-Treating out of the building, which is always a crowd favorite.
Mathopoly Math Night
On the evening of October 14th, Pembroke Meadows' families joined staff for an exhilarting night of solving math problems to earn PMES Mathopoly properties. Students used personal mobile devices or school owned devices to scan QR codes containing math problems for the students to solve. Upon solving the math problems students had their work checked by a staff member and received three PMES Mathopoly properties for correctly answering each problem. After solving five math problems students totaled the value of their properties and turned in the total value to a staff member. Once all students had completed their calculations the real estate tycoon for each grade level was announced and rewarded with a new board game to take home.
