PMES 1 Mile Fun Run
Pembroke Meadows hosted their annual one mile fun run on March 8, 2015. Students, parents, community members and staff enjoyed the beautiful weather as they participated in a one mile run or walk. Medals were awarded to the top finishers in each age group.
Fifth Grades Interactive Periodic Table
The fifth graders at PMES completed a project on the Periodic Table of Elements. Each student was assigned an element to research and create a visual slide to display as part of the interactive periodic table of elements. The students also took their research and wrote a mini report which they were videotaped presenting. The final step of the project was to create Auras using the Augmented Reality App Aurasma. Now, when someone scans a students' visual slide a video will pop up of the student sharing his or her mini report. On Tuesday, February 10th the fifth graders shared their projects with PMES families during the monthly PTA meeting.

SCA Presents for Pets Drive
The SCA is proud to sponsor "Presents for Pets" for the Virginia Beach SPCA. Our collections were a "pawsitively" amazing success. Pembroke Meadows raised money and donations to help furry friends have a happy holiday. All donations were given to the Virginia Beach SPCA.
Annual Costume Dance
On the evening of October 24th, Pembroke Meadows' families came to school to dance the night away at our annual costume dance. Students enjoyed spending time with family, friends and teachers as they danced and socialized. Students were spotted in all sorts of creative costumes and many staff members even dressed in costume. Students ended the night by Trick-or-Treating out of the building, which is always a crowd favorite.
Mathopoly Math Night
On the evening of October 14th, Pembroke Meadows' families joined staff for an exhilarting night of solving math problems to earn PMES Mathopoly properties. Students used personal mobile devices or school owned devices to scan QR codes containing math problems for the students to solve. Upon solving the math problems students had their work checked by a staff member and received three PMES Mathopoly properties for correctly answering each problem. After solving five math problems students totaled the value of their properties and turned in the total value to a staff member. Once all students had completed their calculations the real estate tycoon for each grade level was announced and rewarded with a new board game to take home.
